Angela Brannon-Batista started the organization “It’s All About the Kids” when she realized just how many families didn’t have enough food on the weekends. Kids were being fed at school during the week, but when they came home, each meal wasn’t a guarantee.

Angela, in her ingenuity, came up with the idea to set up food pantries next to school systems that had families in need. Thanks to Angela and “It’s All About the Kids,” families can now go to these food pantries on Fridays and pick up produce and other healthy food supplies to carry them through the weekend.

Unfortunately, Angela had a financial backer that disappeared on her out of nowhere, threatening the organization’s ability to move forward. That’s when she reached out to Batta Fulkerson and asked us to come on as a monthly donor to help supply the funding to allow them to buy the products they provide to those in need.

When we heard about her situation, our answer to her plea for help was an automatic yes. It’s a great cause and a much-needed resource in our community. It helps prevent homelessness, and it gives these families time and resources to figure out what they can do to get themselves in a better position.

In a very short amount of time, we’ve supplied “It’s All About the Kids” with 250,000 meals for local families, and we could not be happier. Our new goal is to reach 1 million meals.
