Attorney John W. Houts has been a licensed attorney in the State of
California for more than 44 years. He is a 1968 graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and a 1971 graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He is a life long resident of San Diego County.

Mr. Houts owned his own Banker’s Hill law office for over 20 years and has focused his practice on personal injury cases representing a wide variety of clients. He handled bus bench death by electrocution case to a successful result utilizing imagination and technical knowledge in the face of opposition by at least five major defense firms. He has handled many thousands of cases with his only goal being to obtain the best possible result for his client.
Mr. Houts also has expertise in recreational boating litigation and is a member of both the San Diego Yacht Club and the Catalina Island Yacht Club. His current boat is Dos Abogados IV, a 50 foot Mikelson sport fisher.
He is an avid motorcycle rider and owns six bikes, ranging from a Harley Davidson Low Rider to a BMW R1200R. He understands all aspects of accident causation and is skilled at developing liability even when the official reports may be against the rider. He has ridden to Alaska and back through Colorado and Southern Utah. He rode to Sturgis last summer. His knowledge of the motorcycle case is both real and compassionate. His active life style also includes swimming the the La Jolla Rough Water event for the last 30 consecutive years.
He has been married to his wife Janet, also a licensed attorney, for 43 years. His son is a medical doctor and his daughter is in management with Charles Schwab financial services.
